#FridayFiction: 100-Word Challenge | “The Infant Changeling”

“The Infant Changeling”

100wordHands

A ripple of anticipation raced through the lobes of the Great Mind as a dozen eyes watched the two hands touch for the first time.

For years, the Great Mind knew its scouts could not live long on this bright planet among its alien inhabitants without detection. It selected young ones to adapt who could infiltrate and prepare for the coming. Centuries of clandestine abductions and painstaking experiments by scientists who left forever the lightless paradise of their faraway home narrowed to this moment.

The human woman smiled into the eyes of the infant changeling. Cooed.

The Great Mind exulted.

As always, Friday Fiction began this week with Darleen at protein wisdom, whose story comes from this week’s news.

BigGator5’s story also continued in that same vein but from an entirely different vantage point.

Carrie is in with a wonderful story about memory and family.

Tania’s story this week is all Lucy (with an Alex cameo).

April of OddlySaid is in with a story of loss, hope, and rebuilding.
