So, yesterday, Twitter lit up brightly but briefly over this tweet from the New York Times.

I congratulate the social media manager of the Times for getting a conversation going about the newspaper in a way that doesn’t involve cowardice. Heck, even President Obama found time to address the issue while awkwardly dodging questions about why his Affordable Care Act made health insurance less affordable and health care less available. Well done, social media person!

And thank you for giving me the chance to tell a joke. A funny joke.

A funny joke about both the heated rhetoric on Twitter and peas.

A funny joke that NO ONE RETWEETED OR FAVORITED BECAUSE APPARENTLY EVERYONE ON TWITTER HATES A BRILLIANT PUN HOLY CRAPWEASEL WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?!

I gave them whirled peas and no one gave it a chance.
